Ceramic stoneware vase with Australian flannel flower design. Made by me, Denise McDonald, using a combination of slab building and wheel throwing techniques.

This listing is for one vase. Images show the colour options.

Size: 16.5cm high x 8.5cm wide. This is the medium size of the three sizes I make in this design. Each piece is an individual.

It is glazed in my glossy bright glazes developed by me and unique to DMPottery.

The flannel flower pattern you can see under the glaze is a vintage design taken from an Australian Federation (c1915) pane of textured window glass. Typical of the era, the Australian native flannel flower has been depicted in flowing lines. I reproduce this precious heritage pattern in a range of my work.

This vase is fired to stoneware temperature and is non-porous, chip resistant, and of course, water-tight.

I LOVE this modern handcrafted vase, with a beautiful heritage association... Bought it as a gift to myself - a memento after the sale of our family home of 67 years; a 1912 weatherboard cottage. This is such a lovely reminder of the coloured panes of flannel flower glass in the front door :) Bravo, Denise!
